Becky’s Baby Shower
by Becky Broome
Last weekend I had my baby shower and what a wonderful day it was! A time to bring family and friends together to celebrate my pregnancy and our impending new arrival. I thought I would share a few snaps from my shower to give some inspiration if you’re planning a baby shower yourself.
Decor
As soon as I saw the ‘Hello World’ collection from Ginger Ray I instantly fell in love. The mint green teamed with the rose gold was the most beautiful combination. I wanted pretty much everything in the range including the banner, table confetti, balloons, and napkins. I also bought the paper pom poms which looked lovely hung at different heights. White flag bunting strung diagonally from the ceiling and giant white balloons from Peach Blossom added a party feel.
I bought roses, peonies and ranunculuses and displayed a few stems of each in our milk bottle vases and bottle bud vases. The colour palette of white, peachy pinks, mint and rose gold worked really well together and added a freshness to the look.
Food & Drink
Prosecco and traditional lemonade were the drinks of choice for the day. To create a real impact, I served the cloudy lemonade from our glass drinks dispenser which I filled with lemon and lime slices, mint leaves and ice. I served the lemonade in our handled drinking jars, which lent itself to the party vibe.
The food was served in a buffet style but the star of the show was a beautiful lemon sponge cake made by my husband Kristian. He is a man of many talents, Mary Berry would be proud!
Activities
As my friends and family were all at the baby shower I thought it was the perfect opportunity to fill my personalised baby wishes jar. Each guest was given a form to fill in, with prompts such as ‘I hope you grow….’, ‘I hope you laugh…’ and so on. It was so lovely to read through all the wishes for our baby and the jar makes a wonderful keepsake, which is now displayed in the nursery. One day our baby will be able to read the wishes for themselves, which will be such a special moment.
